Touch a Life 2009

Project Purpose:
Food and Angpow donation to poor families for Chinese New Year celebration
Date: 17-Jan-09
Time: 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Members attended: Joanne Wong, Cynthia Sim, Lau Kuek Hoon, Jenny Chu, Derbe Tang, Audrey Chong,
Project Fund Used: RM 1582.50 , a fund raising project was done prior to this project

Our club identified 5 families with no source of income, through Catholic Social Welfare.

Families’ details :

1. Mr. Tian Fatt Sen (55 years old), staying with his sister Ms. Tian Kui Fah (63 years old), both mental patient. Four of Mr. Tian children have been sent to Salvation Army. Monthly was supported by St. Vincent De Paul.
2. Madam Sim Yet Joon and husband, both mental patients. Staying with one daugther been abused before. Based on State Welfare allowance of RM110.
3. Madam Lai Lian Fah - blind widow, cancer patient and has gone through 3 operations. One of her 3 daughters is taking care of her and 2 daughters are still schooling. No income, based on RM170 State Welfare allowance and rice donation from Hun Nam Siang Ten monthly.
4. Mr. Lai Kuan Hin, with one mental son. Based on State Welfare allowance of RM110.
5. Madam Masing widow, husband Chinese. 5/6 children are staying with her. House has been burned down and now has been rebuilt.

Handover

On 17 Jan (Sat) the members met up at 8:30 a.m. and drove to 17th miles (Siburan)
to meet up with Mr. Albert Pilai from Catholic Social Welfare. He showed us the
way to the 5 families. We visited all five families and handed over the food items,
a Chinese New Year hamper and an 'angpow' of RM200 to each family.
The handover was completed at 12:30 p.m..

OCs' message: We would like to thank all the members who attended this project.
It was touching seeing all carrying the handover items in the rain.
Special thanks to Mr. Albert Pilai for coordinating the handover to the 5 families.
