Get Fit 2015 – Charity Health Fair was one of our Club’s major projects for FY2014-2015. The event was launched on 21.3.2015 at a press conference hosted by Station One @ Hills Shopping Mall.

On 29.3.2015, members and FOL came out in force to make this a fun-filled and purposeful event.

The program for the day:-

Whole day:     Health fair and exhibition - Various booths

10am–1pm:   Free health screening by Sarawak Heart Foundation (Body mass index, Blood pressure,                       Blood sugar, Cholesterol check and Counseling)

                      Free breast examination and Counseling by Sarawak Breast Cancer Support Group

2–3.30pm:     90mins Zumbathon  - Led by ZIN® Victor Druce, ZIN® Awang, ZIN® Jenny, ZIN® Jane, ZIN® Elyn, ZIN® Siaw Ching, ZIN® JLo and ZIN® Lillian

Apart from promoting health awareness among the public, the proceeds raised was channeled back to the community and donated to the following:-

(1)  SOS Kids Kuching: RM5,000.00

(2)  Sarawak Cerebal Palsy Association: RM2,000.00

(3)  Kuching Autistic Association: RM2,000.00

(4)  Sarawak Society for the Deaf: RM7,000.00 towards the purchase of computers for their programming class

It has been 2 years since we last visited our furry friends at SSPCA. Our last project was back in 2013 http://kuchingemerald.blogspot.my/2013/03/donation-to-sspca.html

Our new member Fabian Jong was the OC of this successfully organised project. Well done OC!  We would also like to thank Ms. Lily and Ms. Senti from SSPCA for receiving us and to all our donors and sponsors for their contribution.

Part 2 of the project was carried out on 12.9.2015 with a delivery of more of the items on SSPCA's wish list.

* 8 x 10kg of rice (Sponsored by Liansin)

* 10 x 500ml antiseptic hand wash: RM115 (Sponsored by Cynthia Sim)

* 4 x 20kg dog food    : RM260

* 6 x 900ml bleach     : RM29 

                      Total   : RM289.40 (Donated by Lions Club of Kuching Emerald)   

* 3 x 20kg dog food   : RM195

* 5 x 7kg cat food      : RM249.50

* 1 x square plastic table, 1 x 5 tier mini drawer, 3 x 2.5L Dettol floor cleaner, 5 x towels, 1 x 2L spray bottle, 10 x water sweeper, 5 x large rubbish bins, 5 x mops, 5 x brush brooms, 5 x rubber gloves, 3 pkt x heavy duty rubbish bin bags, 8 x 18L buckets, 10 x rubber mats, 10 x s/s feeding bowls, 8 x 2L measuring cups: RM1,031.80
